Fun With Artiste Boxes

I love putting small gifts and gift cards in cute little boxes. So, with my pile of scrap paper and leftover embellishments, I made some adorable gift boxes that were quick and easy to put together.

I was inspired by one of the Idea Book color palettes - gray with green, blue and pink over a Kraft base. The boxes came from the Artiste cartridge (there are so many to choose from!)

A close-up of this cutie shows the gray embossed Paper Fundamentals base, plus some paper scraps from Skylark and Ariana. I had to throw in some bling, so I used the topiary chevron ribbon, gray baker's twine, Smoothie striped washi tape, flamingo dots and Skylark assortment. What a great way to use up leftover embellishments!

Similar paper and embellishments, but I was able to use some retired Sorbet ribbon and one of the adorable Base and Bling rhinestones. Plus one of my all time-favorite stamp sets - For a Friend.

I used the retired Chantilly textiles to make the bow, and I added a cute Base and Bling Dreamer charm to the baker's twine.

Now I'm ready to start the gift giving. :)

Hostess Cards - Skylark with Bling

I love creating projects for my hostesses who book parties. Sometimes they want something a bit more complex, so it turns into a workshop party. Other times, they want to keep it simple, so I'll create a card or a Cricut-cut project for people to make. As always, the hostess gets to decide the paper, theme and techniques. For this project, my hostess asked to use the lovely Skylark paper pack and she wanted lots of bling. And of course, she got it!

We got to play with teal shimmer trim, aqua dots, slate twist ties, 3-D Cricut flowers (plus other Cricut shapes that coordinate with our stamp sets), gold washi tape and the quatrefoil embossing folder. Lots of bling and lots of fun techniques!

I'd love to create a personal project just for you that you can share with your friends and family! If you'd like to host your own party, feel free to contact me by comment, email, or Facebook - it's all about having fun while making cute projects!

Free To Be Me Card In A Box

I have been wanting to make a card in a box for awhile now, and I knew it was finally my time when I got my hands on the Free To Be Me paper pack and Feathers stamp set. The vision was there - a box exploding with feathers and a cute little bird making some adorable statement. And voila! Here it is:

The box itself is surprisingly easy to make (side note - who comes up with these things? I imagine there's this one crazy woman who spends all day cutting and folding paper into these designs. If you exist, thank you crazy lady). I used some of my Free To Be Me paper pack, Feathers stamp set, Base & Bling Teal Jewels and an awesome retired stamp set called Life is Tweet, which I should be using on everything.

I actually hadn't realized how small these boxes are - they seem so big in the photos. But it's meant to flatten so it can fit into a regular sized envelope. So cool.

Card boxes exploding with feathers can be yours, too, with this awesome May special. Click here to check it out.

May Stamp of the Month Color Dare

As a guest designer for Color My Heart's Color Dare, I was invited to create a project using Buttercup and Hollyhock.

On top of that, I challenged myself to use May's Stamp of the Month - You've Got a Friend. I went crazy with texture and trying different techniques with the stamp set:

Texture comes from the dot embossing folder, sanded Hollyhock cardstock and Kraft Artiste yo-yo. Stamping techniques include paper piecing - I stamped the image in Chocolate ink on the B&T paper and white cardstock, and in Buttercup ink on white cardstock, then cut out various parts to create a layered look. I also used a portion of the "Merci Beaucoup" image on some of the Buttercup cardstock - it almost just looks like lines because the letters are so tall and skinny. I love the mix of thick and thin lines on this stamp set!

You can get May's Stamp of the Month for $5 with every $50 purchased (as well as the National Scrapbooking Month paper pack!) Click here to start shopping.

    Supplies Used (All CTMH)

    Inks - Chocolate and Buttercup
Cardstock - White Daisy, Kraft, Hollyhock and Buttercup
    B&T Paper - Chantilly (retired)
Embellishments - Kraft Keyboard Alpha, Wooden Trinkets and Mocha Pearls (retired)

    Picture My Life on Display

Another fun way to use Picture My Life cards outside of scrapbooking - as part of a photo display! I used our Designed Decor Black Frame, some leftover Surf's Up PML cards, and lots of bling to create a nifty interactive vacation display, inspired by Close To My Heart's idea book.

I added touches of sparkle and charm on each of the cards, which are held up using our Mini Clothespins. I loved how quickly I was able to do this - the cards are already decorated, I just needed to corner round some photos, clip everything up, and add bling and journaling wherever I felt like it. Simple and easy - just the way I like it. :)

    Supplies Used (All CTMH):

    Picture My Life Surf's Up
    Designed Decor Black Frame

Base & Bling Craft Queen Charms
    Base & Bling Teal Jewels

    Durables Triangle Studs

    Gold Polka-Dot Washi Tape

    Hopscotch Alphabet

May Challenge Card - Just Create

Our team's color challenge for May has us using Colonial White, Goldrush, Ponderosa Pine and Lagoon - a very fall palette that I wanted to spring up a bit. I love using overlays, and this one reminded me of a garden trellis, which seemed perfect.

The flowers actually came from two different cards I started, but ended up not using. At the time it was frustrating, but I had those extra flowers on hand and they ended up being perfect for my final card. Sometimes just letting yourself create, even when it doesn't work out, ends up helping you in the end. There's a life lesson in there somewhere. :)

    Supplies Used (All CTMH):
    Inks - Ponderosa Pine
Cardstock - Ponderosa Pine, Lagoon, Goldrush, Colonial White
Stamp Set - You and Me (retired)
Embellishments - Colonial White brads and button (retired), Goldrush brad (retired) and Teal Shimmer Trim
Other Tools - Dot Embossing Folder and Artbooking Cartridge

    Free To Be Me Card

I had a little more time to play with our National Scrapbooking Month paper pack  - Free To Be Me - so I made a bright and sunny card to go with my bright and sunny personality (those of you who know me, don't laugh so hard ;)

I am really getting into this whole feather thing - I love it on the paper, and the Feathers stamp set is just so cute. I used our alcohol blending marker on the stamped Lagoon feather to give it a watercolor look. The vellum adds a soft touch, and the metal triangles and teal shimmer trim bring in the sparkle (one can never have enough sparkle).

I love this special and I think you will too. With a $50 purchase you can get the Free To Be Me paper pack for $5 in all its feathery and vellumy glory (not to mention the Stamp of the Month as well! More on that later.) It's a great month to be a crafter. :)

    Picture My Life Note Holder

I have a bunch of cards left over from my Picture My Life kit, and I've been finding fun ways to use them outside of scrapbooking. My favorite? Simply using them as cards! The 4x6 size is perfect for sending as a postcard or leaving a nice note in a loved one's bag. The 3x4 cards work great as gift tags or little notes.

To hold my cards, I was inspired by Jeanette Lynton's blog and decorated a Journaling Card Box using the Balloon Ride paper pack.

I loved using the Artbooking cartridge to create the cute little title on the front and top. And of course, I needed to add some bling - sparkles, baker's twine, Durables Triangle Studs and a Base & Bling Charm

As I always tell people, there are no mistakes in crafting - just opportunities for creativity. I had ripped a portion of the paper on the back of the box, and instead of replacing it, I just cut out one of the balloons and clouds from the paper pack and added this adorable detail!

Such a fun way to store these lovely cards, and what an easy way to show someone how much they mean to you with a sweet little card!
