Secret Santa Gifts - Receiving

Now it's time to reveal what I received from our Close To My Heart team Secret Santa gift exchange. And let me just say, I was blown away not only by the artwork my fellow consultant, Sara, created for me, but by all the artwork that was made and given - we have such a talented and giving team!

This beautiful card was made with Snowhaven paper, Clear Sparkles and the retired Pear & Partridge WOTG stamp set.

How adorable is this mini photo holder? Sara cleverly decorated this binder clip with Chalk It Up paper, flowers cut with Art Philosophy and stamped with Pretty Petals, and finished with retired black striped ribbon and blue sparkle.

This box is actually a powdered chocolate milk container (again, how clever! I admire people who can decorate and alter items like this!!) Sara filled it with my favorite sugar-free candies and decorated it with Chalk It Up paper, a Base & Bling Dreamer Charm, Clear Sparkles, Small Clear Sparkle Flourishes, Oodles of Doodles stamp set, shapes from the Artiste cartridge and retired Base & Bling gems, metal flowers, Baker's Twine and Zipper Lace.

And finally, my absolute favorite - an adorable chalk board decorated with Art Philosophy flowers, Small Clear Sparkle Flourishes and retired Baker's Twine, metal flowers, paper butterflies and Stamp of the Month. I'm going to be showing this off at every workshop!

I love being a part of this team, and if you'd like to join us in our crafting adventures (and get some free product and extra cash on the side :) why not ask me about becoming a Close To My Heart consultant? Feel free to email me at morganvogt80@gmail.com to see what it's all about, or

Secret Santa Gifts - Giving

One of my favorite parts about belonging to my Close To My Heart team are all the fun things we do together - team meetings and crops, challenges and blog hops, and of course, the Secret Santa gift exchange. I thought I'd share the gifts I made, and in the next post, the gifts I received.

For the card, I went straight to our Artfully Sent cartridge (of course :) I had fun decorating this card with Yuletide Carol paper, Gold Glitter Paper and Green Epoxy Bubbles.

For this cute box, I used the Artiste cartridge and decorated with Pathfinding paper and Complements, Metallic Baker's Twine, Bronze Shimmer Trim, and Brown & Tan Sparkles. This actually holds some dairy-free chocolate bars, which makes the saying rather perfect. :)

For my next gift, I pulled out the Art Philosophy cartridge and made this adorable fry box (holding Bath & Body Works Hand Cream) with Seaside paper, Thistle Ribbon, Clear Sparkles and the Have a Happy Day stamp set

And finally, a mini-album - I had so much fun making this! I used the Artbooking cartridge and decorated with Brushed paper, Complements and Assortment, Pink Shimmer Trim, Topiary Chevron Ribbon and some Clear Sparkles.

Make sure to stop back to see what I received for my Secret Santa gift!

Christmas Cats (or a Very Fluffy Christmas)

Often in the layouts I post, you'll see that I have three adorable (and rather mischievous) cats. I thought it would be fun to share each of their stories with you, along with cute photos of them at Christmas "helping" out - because what's Christmas without a little bit of fluffiness? :)

Puddy (Part Siamese, Part Tabby)

After my husband and I first got married, we lived in a large apartment complex in New Mexico. One morning, a cat showed up on our doorstep, meowling to get in. We both had to leave for work, and though I hated to leave the cat there, I figured he'd find someone else in our complex. However, when I got home, he was still there. So, we took him in and had him checked out by the vet. He didn't have any life-threatening illnesses, but he did come to us with a limp that needed surgery and a respiratory infection. Thousands of dollars later, I realized there must have been a sign that said "Schmucks live here" above our door. But I couldn't image life without Puddy - he's the sweetest, most handsome cat (also the cockiest since he seems to know this. :) He was named after Elaine's boyfriend Puddy from Seinfeld ("Yeah, that's right.")

Elaine (Part Calico, Part Tabby)

Puddy is a very social cat and got lonely by himself in our apartment. So when we moved to our first house (again, still in New Mexico), we decided to get a female cat to keep him company. We went to PetSmart to adopt a Humane Society kitten, but instead were convinced by the nice lady at the store to get one-and-a-half year old Elaine. I'm so glad we did because Elaine and Puddy became the best of friends, and despite having a random crazy switch, she's one of the sweetest cats ever. Elaine was, of course, named after the character from Seinfeld.

Newman (Tonkinese)

We actually had no plans for a third cat, but when a friend said she had found twin Siamese cats roaming the streets of our town in New Mexico and could only keep one, I had to check them out. Both were adorable, but we went with the one with less fluff (I'm actually allergic to cats) and decided on calling him Newman (see a trend?) The name is actually rather perfect because he's the most sneaky of our three cats. He's a total sweetheart, but he's also figured out that the way to get my husband up to feed him is to annoy me, which he does by pushing my books off my nightstand (the little sneak doesn't do this when I'm not around :). Newman is sort of the odd-cat out, but the three of them do play together. Plus he's such a cuddler that he gets lots of attention from Fred and I.

The Big Cat

I jokingly refer to my husband Fred as "The Big Cat" because the other cats follow him around the house and wait for him by the door when he comes home (which in my opinion, isn't very cat-like). Fred is very calm and can sit still for hours (unlike me), which is why they tend to also use him as a couch. But I don't mind too much being the second favorite - they also like to go to Fred when they're sick, so I can handle not being the go-to human. :)

To you and yours this holiday season - I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy your time with your family, especially with your children both human and furry.

Seasonal Expressions Art - Heartstrings Layout

When I create, I love to start with an inspiration piece and then change things up to make it my own. The artwork in the new Seasonal Expressions mini-catalog is phenomenal, and I really liked the layout on page 18. But I wanted to use Heartstrings to showcase a cute picture of my husband and I.

So I turned this:

Into this:

I used the same layout design and placed all the embellishments in the same spot. But, I used the Heartstrings paper pack, Heartstrings Complements, Stuck on You Puffies, and Lovestruck Clothespins instead. I also did my stamping with the Amour stamp set.

My other favorite addition is the hidden journaling spot under the photo - I used 3-D foam tape to pop up the photo, then backed the My Complements sticker on white paper, added the clothespin, and tucked it under the photo!

December Stamp of the Month - Cutie Pie Card

Every time I look at December's Stamp of the Month, I think fluffy, pastel colors because that's how I like my cupcakes. :) So I thought I'd go a little pastel crazy and make a fun, fluffy card:

I used the Whimsy Paper Fundamentals embossed paper, along with our Shinhan Touch Markers and Colorless Blender to color the cupcakes. And what cupcake is complete without sprinkles? For mine, I used White Enamel Stars as well as some Silver Glitter Paper to give it some sparkle.

You can see the sweet embossed surface of the paper and get a closer look at the yummy cupcakes.

To make your own fluffy cupcake creations, all you need to do is place a $50 order and the stamp set is yours for $5!
