Sweet Tweets Team Challenge - Zoe Layouts

I challenged my Sweet Tweets team to create a layout using the new Zoe collection and to really show off their crafting style. I am so proud of my team, and I love the beautiful artwork they create. It was a busy month for everyone, but I had two team members put together lovely layouts:

What I love about these layouts is that they really showcase the "Fundamental Scrapbooking" style - clean and simple, focused on telling a story. Plus both Heather and Monika are awesome with Cricut and showed off their skills with our cartridges.

Check out their artwork - you're sure to be inspired!

Introducing Artistry Pt. 3 - Backgrounds Layout (with Design Space File)

So far I've shared two of my favorite features from Artistry - themes and icons. My third and final share? The awesome background feature!

What Are Backgrounds?: In Artistry, backgrounds consist of overlays and borders. Overlays are wonderful for creating a dimensional background on a layout like this one or on a card. Borders also create another fun element by adding a continuous shape across the base of your project.

Technique: I used the backgrounds from page 46, and all products are from the Zoe collection. I added the cut outs from the Glacier border to the white spaces in the Canary overlay (I wasn't sure what color I wanted to use for my border, which is why there's both Glacier and Sorbet shapes).

Design Space File: I created the layout in Design Space (I find it so much easier to visualize what I want that way), so here's the Design Space File for you to use!

Happy crafting!

August Stamp of the Month - Framed Paper Fundamentals Card

Do you ever want to create a card or layout using certain colors, but you just can't find the right paper? Sometimes the theme is all wrong, or you don't like the pattern. I was having that problem when trying to create a simple thank you card. Fortunately, there's an easy solution.

I love the colors from the Zoe collection, but I just wanted a simple background. So I dug out my Paper Fundamentals to add the colors I wanted with a coordinating pattern.

What are Paper Fundamentals? Double-sided paper that comes in all of our colors and has a glossy resist pattern on one side and a bold print on the other.

Technique: I used all seven of the Zoe colors (Canary, Glacier, Slate, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf, Whisper, and White Daisy) but kept it simple by mainly using cardstock and tucking in a few pieces of Paper Fundamentals for texture. That allowed the beautiful pattern from the Framed stamp set to stand out.

Fun Fact: I love mixing old product with new product. The Coral Shimmer Trim and Green Triangles are brand spankin' new, while the adorable enamel bird is an embellishment I've had sitting around for awhile. Without having a specific theme for my paper, I could use any embellishments.

This fun sentiment stamp set is only $5 with any $50 purchase! This stamp set, along with the current Paper Fundamental patterns, are only available until August 31st. You can get both on my website.

Rose Blossom Artistry Blog Hop: Introducing Artistry Pt. 2 - Icon(ic) Layers Card (with Design Space file)

Welcome to the Rose Blossom Artistry Blog Hop! Come follow Close To My Heart consultants from the Rose Blossom team as we share our creations using the brand new Artistry cartridge!

If you came here from Kim's amazing blog, you are on the right path. If you get lost along the way, come back here and go to the bottom of the page for the blog hop list.

Icons and Layers

Why Part 2?: I had introduced Artistry in a previous blog post, sharing one of the features I thought you'd love to use (themes!) For the blog hop, I wanted to share another awesome feature - fresh new icons with layers upon layers.

Technique: When I get a new cartridge, I start by flipping through the booklet and creating with the first image that grabs my attention. And I didn't go far - this lovely mason jar bouquet is on on page 2 :) To help me figure out what colors to use on each layer, I went to Design Space.

Design Space File: I used the Zoe collection colors as my starting point, and then I kept changing the colors until I had a combination I liked. Here's the Design Space file for you to use!

Layering: Not only did I use different papers for each of the icon layers, but I also layered up the embellishments and the card base. 3-D Foam Tape is layering's best friend.

Don't Forget the Inside: With my leftover pieces, I made a cute little decoration on the inside of the card.

Now it's time for you to keep moving on the hop!  Head on over to Cathy's lovely blog and see her beautiful artwork!

A New Journey: New Consultant Kit and Returning Consultant Special

"It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end." - Ursula K. Le Guin

I hope you love the journey you're on as much as I do. I'll admit, I spent a long time on a path that made me uphappy. But what kept me going was something I did alongside that path - being a Close To My Heart consultant. It's creativity, connection and community. And it's something I want to share with you.

There's a brand new Consultant Kit that is all about the journey - from the enticing "Open Me" on the box, to the way the inside is set up so you can explore what being a consultant means layer by layer.

What I love most is that the kit gives you creativity, connection and community right away. Everything you need to invite a few friends over to create a project is right there.

The kit contains $445 worth of product and business helps for only $129. Would you like to see the Consultant kit and it's contents?

Former Consultants
And in August, it gets even better if you're a former Consultant. When you re-sign up to be a Close To My Heart consultant, you can choose a special "business building essentials" version of the kit for only $49.

Personal Note from Morgan

Close To My Heart has been a part of my life for over six years now. And I don't know what I would have done without it. The friendships I have made with my customers and my downline have gotten me through so many tough times. Creating for myself and others has given me a greater sense of who I am and has pushed me to grow both creativity and as a person.

I have a wonderful team of women who are in this for very different reasons - to be able to spend more time crafting with friends, to earn some extra money, or to grow a business. And I support them no matter what their goals. We have a Facebook group to chat about how things are going, we have quarterly meetings so we can learn new things and craft, and as I tell them, I'm always here if they want to talk.

Whatever journey you want to start, I'd love to be a part of it. There's no one way to be a consultant - it's all about what you need and what Close To My Heart and I can do to help you get there. I'd be so happy to show you how.

Introducing Artistry Pt. 1: Themes - Happy Birthday Bag

When I first get my hands on one of our new cartridges, the first thing I do is flip through the booklet to see what the different creative features are. Like all of our cartridges, Artistry has 700 images, and each is broken down into one of seven groups:
  • 1 - Font (very playful, plus additional images, 100 total)
  • 2 and 3 - Icons (200 total)
  • 4 and 5 - Basic Shape with coordinating Layers (200 total)
  • 6 - Banners (100 total)
  • 7 - Backgrounds (100 total)

My first thought when I saw how many images there were was - wow, this is like Art Philosophy 2.0!

And then I noticed the Backgrounds - these are filled with overlays and borders, just like Artbooking!

And then I realized that each of the 50 pages contains its own theme, like Artiste!

To me, Artistry really is a "best of" our previous cartridges. But with a few added details that really make it special.

So, throughout August, I want to to introduce you to Artistry and to the features I think you'll love to use.

Themes

There are 50 themes in the Artistry cartridge - that's 50 ways to celebrate, to decorate, and to commemorate. Whatever card you need to make, whatever memories you want to preserve and whatever gifts you're going to give, Artistry has you covered.

I have 7 birthdays coming up in August. So choosing my theme was way too easy. What do you have coming up? I bet Artistry has the theme you'll need.

Organizing Tips: Marker Roll-Up and Accessory Roll-Up (Plus Freebies!)

Does anyone else have boxes and drawers full of embellishments? I'll admit, my craft room is pretty organized, but I have a lot of embellishments that come in different shapes and sizes, so they end up all over the place.

My other big issue is with our alcohol markers. They don't fit into our old marker tower, so they're currently sitting in a drawer. They like to fly out when I'm really into a project and yank the drawer open.

So when I got my first look at the new catalog, I did a little happy dance. Three new organizers, two of which solved some annoying problems (you'll get to hear about the third one in September. ;)

You can get the Marker Roll-Up and Accessory Roll-up before the new catalog comes out. And on top of that, you can get some free stuff with them as well!

Two adorable sticker sheets that are perfect for Base & Bling as well as decorations come FREE with the Accessory Roll-Up!

And this beautiful stamp set comes FREE with the Marker Roll-Up!

Your organizational problems solved? Check! And some free product just because we like you? Double Check!!

See for yourself at my website.

August Stamp of the Month - Framed Rose Blossom Blog Hop

Welcome to the Rose Blossom Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! Come follow Close To My Heart consultants from the Rose Blossom team as we share our creations using August's Stamp of the Month - Framed!

If you came here from Kim's blog, you are on the right path (and incredibly lucky - her artwork is amazing!)  If you get lost along the way, come back here and go to the bottom of the page for the blog hop list

New Product Alert: The lovely triangle overlay and stamped shape both come from the new Artistry cartridge! The color palette and adorable flower gem are all from the Zoe collection. And those sparkly Green Triangles and Coral Shimmer Trim are also new and available to order!

Inspiration: Although you won't be able to see it until September, I took my inspiration from a layout shown in our new Annual Inspirations idea book.

Technique Tip: There's two tricks I use to turn a layout design into a card: 1) Scale down! Only focus on two or three elements from the layout - you can't fit it all on a card. 2) Use Design Space or Cricut Craft Room to help you envision the design on a new base.

August's SOTM is only available until August 31st (and it coordinates with the new Artistry cartridge!) You can get this fun stamp set for only $5 with a $5o purchase at my website

Plus, all these awesome new products are available NOW!

Now it's time for you to keep moving on the hop!  Head on over to Cathy's lovely blog and see her beautiful artwork!

Blog Hop List:

The brand new Artistry Cricut Cartridge is now available to order! On top of that, I'm giving away free prizes for those of you who purchase the cartridge from me during August!

  • 50 different themes (like Artiste)

What else do you get besides 700 amazing images? Three coordinating stamp sets and the new Enchantment cardstock combo pack! That means you're set to create as soon as you get the collection!

1. Get the physical cartridge with booklet, 3 stamp sets and cardstock pack for $99
OR
