National Stamping Month - Hello Life! Picture My Life Layout (with Design Space File)

There's only 3 more days left in the National Stamping Month campaign! The special includes three exclusive Hello Life! stamp sets. I've showed off the first two (Cardmaking and Scrapbooking), so now it's time for Pocket Scrapbooking!

The Hello Life! Pocket Scrapbooking stamp set makes it very simple to create beautiful pocket pages for any season.

Inspiration: Artfully Sent! I took one look at the stamp images and thought they'd go perfectly with the seasonal pocket cards. Here's the Design Space file for you to use!

Technique: I backed the pocket cards with a mixture of cardstock, Paper Fundamentals and Nevermore B&T paper to really make them stand out.

Fun Fact: Watercolors, ink blots and brush strokes are really trendy right now. This stamp set has a brush stroke image that makes adding the look of paint fast and easy, without the mess!

Nevermore Steampunk Halloween Layout

Have fun with your creations and don't be afraid to get messy! You'll find the more you let go, the more you'll love what you create.

Inspiration: This layout design from Sketchabilities.

Techniques: Fun with distressing! All Nevermore papers were ink-edged with black ink. Some were distressed with an edge-distresser. The spiderweb border from Artbooking was spritzed with water, crinkled and then sanded. And finally, I got a brush nice and wet with black watercolor and flicked it on the page to create the splatters.

The awesome steampunk look comes from the way cool Steampunk Scoundrels stamp set and the Nevermore Complements.

Fun Fact: If I could spend every day distressing paper, I would. :)

Making Connections - That's What It's All About!

Fun and excitement? Check! Lots of free product? Double check! Inspiration both personal and creatively? Always! And of course - sisterhood.

Close To My Heart events for consultants are so special, and while all the free products and projects are a huge perk, it's making those connections with fellow crafters, team members, and the company itself that make these events so amazing.

Heather and Linda from my team and I road-tripped it up to Minnesota - and what's a road trip without a huge chicken? :)

Getting spoiled with lots of free product - awesome!

Our amazing team - I love getting to know these women and being a part of their lives.

Creative time with Linda and Heather!

Making Connections says it all.

Our team with Monica - she's one of the the bright and wonderful faces of Close To My Heart you see in videos. She's also incredibly inspiring (she got me jogging again - what is it with this woman? :)

September Stamp of the Month - Paper Garden Background Card

Backgrounds give you the solid base you need to make a beautiful focal point pop. But they don't have to be plain and boring - they can be fun and pretty too!

September's Stamp of the Month (Paper Garden) has lovely floral images that make great backgrounds. And simple patterned paper can also help ground your art.

Tone-On-Tone Backgrounds: I stamped one of the floral images in Whisper ink on Whisper cardstock - this creates a background that looks elegant, but doesn't take away from the focal point.

Background Stamps: These can help you create texture, like the white circle I stamped with the wire fence image.

Paper Fundamentals: Glossy pattern on one side, bold print on the other. I used soft colors from the Enchantment palette, which helped make the bold Pomegranate flower and Paper Fundamentals Assortment glitter stickers pop.

National Stamping Month - Hello Life! Layout

The National Stamping Month celebration continues! There's three awesome Hello Life! stamp sets to show off - I've already shown the Cardmaking stamp set, so it's on to the next one...

This time, it's all about the Hello Life! Scrapbooking stamp set:

Inspiration: Make It From Your Heart Vol. 1, Pattern 6 (but flipped upside down).

Technique: Thinking outside the box (or stamp set ;) This stamp set doesn't scream Halloween, but that "Happy" sentiment got me thinking - why couldn't I put whatever I wanted after "Happy"?

So I went to the Nevermore collection and decorated with spooky colors and patterns. And then I added images and sayings from the stamp set to give it even more focus - documenting our Halloween family memories.

Cricut Cuts: The images that coordinate with the Hello Life! stamp set and the "Halloween" font are both from Artistry while the 3-D flowers are from Artiste.

Nevermore Halloween Card (with Design Space File)

This month I'll be showcasing art using the Halloween-themed Nevermore collection, as well as art that is inspired by the colors of Nevermore.

The lovely fall colors are perfect for September, and the Halloween art will hopefully help you get inspired to make your own spooky creations.

I kept the front of the card clean and simple, using scraps from the Nevermore paper pack, stickers from the Nevermore Complements, Green Shimmer Trim and Enamel Gems.

And then I went detail-crazy with the inside! This awesome scene comes from the Artfully Sent pop-up card feature. My favorite details are the house and tree - I love how the B&T paper looks with the die-cuts!

If you'd like to create your own haunted card, here's the Design Space File for you to use!

Paper Crafting Trends for 2015-2016

There are some amazing paper crafting trends circulating online and shown at the most recent Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) expo.

I love collecting bits of information, so I gathered a list of the top ten trends and compared it to the product in our new Close To My Heart catalogs.

I was so excited to see that we have many different products that fall into all of these categories (except for one - no planners! But who knows - there's still more mini-catalogs to come!)

So if you want some tips on what to look out for, here's a guide to the trends and some of the products we carry that can help you stay in style. For more, check out the online idea books.

National Stamping Month - Hello Life! Card (with Design Space File)

Hello life and hello inspiration! For each Hello Life stamp set available this month for National Stamping Month, I'll be showing off artwork to help get you inspired!

This week is all about the Hello Life - Cardmaking stamp set:

Inspiration: I'm showing off the new Nevermore collection colors this month, though I toned them down a little by replacing Sunset with Goldrush and Pear with Fern. I also used the "Hello Sunshine" sentiments as my starting point. I knew I wanted the card to be bright and to have a sun (I like literal. :)

Technique: I used the Artfully Sent cartridge for my card base and the handy dandy "Contour" function to get rid of everything except the sun. From there, I added as many stamped images as I could, and to make it pop, I threw in the sunglasses and film strip using black Paper Fundamentals. Why sunglasses and film strip? Because I thought they'd look good in black. :)

Design Space File: Want to make your own sunshine card? Here's the Design Space File for you to use!

September Stamp of the Month - Paper Garden Rose Blossom Blog Hop

Welcome to the Rose Blossom Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! Come follow Close To My Heart consultants from the Rose Blossom team as we share our creations using September's Stamp of the Month - Paper Garden!

If you came here from Kim's gorgeous blog, you are on the right path!  If you get lost along the way, come back here and go to the bottom of the page for the blog hop list.

Inspiration: The gorgeous fall colors from the new Nevermore collection (though I used Fern instead of Pear; and if you look closely, Saffron is a part of the collection), and the Halloween layout from page 8 of Holiday Expressions.

Technique: All those pretty flowers were stamped with pigment inks, which gives them a soft, natural look. Also, the new Paper Fundamentals Enchantment collection allowed me to use the colors I wanted with non-themed designs.

Fun Fact: That's my mom with my best friend's two kids. She had knitted the little girl a blue cape, and of course couldn't come without something for the little boy, so he got a new book. :)

September's SOTM is only available until September 30th. As always, you can get this lovely stamp set for only $5 with a $5o purchase at my website

Now it's time for you to keep moving on the hop!  Head on over to Cathy's lovely blog and see her beautiful artwork!
